Harber-Bosch Positive or Negative to Human Civilization

Harber-Bosch Positive or Negative to Human Civilization

The question of whether the Harber-Bosch process has had an overall positive or negative impact depends on what you consider good for human civilization. In most cases I would be inclined to submit that the process overall has played a highly beneficial role in human society for one reason, spread of population leading to more people and connectivity between them (which fuels innovation). This is not a reason that says human shouldn't address the population problem in the world, but rather that there is a massive benefit to having 7.2 billion people compared to just 2 billion. If we follow human history we clearly see trends that show the more connected a civilization is to the world, the more cultural diffusion there is, and the more technological advancement. Think of the advancements made during the information age compared to the slow advancement of China after isolation for centuries. This huge advancement in our modern age was allowed because there are five billion more mind's  working every single day than that of what the book would suggest for us. 5 billion minds that without which great advances like  “ GM crops, and the Green Revolution” would  never remotely entered human thought as we would never have struggled to feed a larger population. That struggle drove advancement, without a problem there is no innovation. This process is not without its negatives being used for German shell production allowing the “2nd reich to remain in the First World War for an extra two years” is a prime example but that is the power of Science. Science Is a key to open any door we want, it  is up to us to figure out what to do with that knowledge. The Harber- Bosch process is a great example of this important concept because it has its positive and negatives, and been used for both good and evil. As I said science allows us to choose between right and wrong, and overall I would say that this process has been used for mostly good.Through allowing billions of lives to exist, and innovate. Ushering in an age of technological advancement unscene in global history(Information age), that changed the face of our planet. This advancement was fueled by a need to produce more food, for more and more people, and if what separates man from the other creatures of Earth is our ability to adapt to any environment or challenge we encounter than I wholeheartedly believe this advancement was good for human civilization.

  1. This persuasive essay in my opinion did a very good job accomplishing its task to help the reader believe in what they are trying to convey, as well as that the first sentence is extremely strong and one of the better ones I saw while reading some of these persuasive essays.
